Iconic Artwork of the Ukraine Invasion

These images have not been used for a real Time Magazine Cover, they are a series of artworks created by Patrick Mulder. Patrick is a Graphic Designer and this is his explanation for creating the series of 3 images.

“My TIME artwork has gone viral - so I thought it would be appropriate for me to write a little about it. The image is one out of a sequence of three I created on the day Russia invaded Ukraine. I felt the official cover by TIME was uninspired and lacked conviction.

I wanted to create something that added to the conversation around the invasion of Ukraine and captured the public mood. It wasn't originally intended to be a TIME cover. The finished image was so powerful, I felt that it deserved to be framed in an equally powerful way.”

Donald Trump receives gift from Putin

Trump receives football — #weeklycartoon — Michael&Josh

#DonaldTrump and #Putin finally met to celebrate their master plan. Putin had a gift for Donald. It was a #WorldCup football. It made me wonder what was in it and inspired our latest cartoon. Well after all he had been asking where the server was.

Roman Abramovich — UK Visa

Putin and Abramovich — Michael & Josh #weeklycartoon

Roman Abramovich the oligarch, who owns Chelsea Football Club was unable to attend the FA cup in the UK on Saturday 19th May 2018. He is being forced to apply for a new investment visa after letting his previous one expire. Chris Hutchins, a biographer of Putin, describes the relationship between the Russian president and Abramovich as like that between a father and a favourite son. Within the Kremlin, Abramovich is referred to as “Mr A”.

Abramovich was the first person to originally recommend to Yeltsin that Vladimir Putin be his successor as the Russian president. When Putin formed his first cabinet as Prime Minister in 1999, Abramovich interviewed each of the candidates for cabinet positions before they were approved. Subsequently, Abramovich would remain one of Putin’s closest confidants. In 2007, Putin consulted in meetings with Abramovich on the question of who should be his successor as president; Medvedev was personally recommended by Abramovich.

Putin’s got more dolls

Putin with Russian Dolls — Michael & Josh #dailycartoon

140 of Putin’s diplomats have been expelled from Russian embassies around the world. Have we ever considered those Russian dolls they’ve left behind?

All I could imagine is those diplomats leaving duplicates of themselves behind in embassises, so we may have expelled 140, but there’s probably 3 or 4 times that amount left in the embassies and we don’t have a clue.

Putin as referee at the 2018 World Cup

Well he’s Russia’s new president for a further 6 years, that means 2024!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

If we knew what we know now about his regime, the Sochi Winter Olympics doping scandal, The US election collusion and the latest Salisbury nerve agent poisoning, would we have awarded him the 2018 football (soccer) worldcup?

This made us wonder and inspired our latest cartoon. Will anyone be attending or even watching the football (soccer) this June?
